Roof Warranty Information
Clear Warranty Information for Your Owens Corning Roof
A new roof can include more than one type of warranty. Owens Corning manufacturer coverage, an optional extended roofing-system warranty, and Zenobi Roofing Inc.’s 10-year limited workmanship warranty each address different concerns.
You do not need to determine the cause of a possible roof problem before contacting us. Zenobi Roofing can review the condition and help identify the appropriate next step.
The Quick Answer
Three Types of Roof Coverage
Each type of coverage has a different purpose. The cause of the concern, the products installed, and the warranty selected determine which one may apply.
Manufacturer Warranty
Addresses eligible manufacturing defects in qualifying Owens Corning shingles and roofing components.
Preferred Protection
Provides broader qualifying product-defect coverage and includes manufacturer-backed workmanship coverage under Owens Corning’s terms.
Zenobi Workmanship Warranty
Covers qualifying leakage caused by a covered installation issue on full roof replacements completed by Zenobi Roofing Inc.
Homeowners insurance may address sudden damage from hail, severe wind, falling trees, or another covered event. A roof warranty does not replace insurance.

Which Coverage May Apply?
A roof concern can come from the roofing product, installation, severe weather, or another part of the home. The likely cause helps determine where the review begins.
Owens Corning Manufacturer Warranty
May apply to an eligible manufacturing defect in qualifying Owens Corning shingles or roofing components.
Preferred Protection Warranty
May provide broader product-defect protection and 10 years of workmanship coverage under Owens Corning’s terms.
Zenobi Workmanship Warranty
Applies to qualifying roof leakage caused by a covered installation issue on a full roof replacement completed by Zenobi Roofing.
Homeowners Insurance
May apply to covered damage from hail, severe wind, falling trees, or another sudden event.
Owens Corning Preferred Contractor
What Preferred Status Means
Preferred status reflects established contractor-network requirements and allows qualifying extended warranty options to be offered.
Zenobi Roofing Inc. is an Owens Corning Roofing Preferred Contractor. Owens Corning requires Preferred Contractors to meet requirements related to insurance, registrations or licenses, business qualifications, professionalism, reliability, and workmanship.
Preferred status does not automatically extend every warranty
The homeowner and contractor must select the extended warranty, use the qualifying Owens Corning roofing components, meet installation requirements, and complete the required registration.

Optional Extended Coverage
Preferred Protection Roofing System Limited Warranty
Preferred Protection applies to a qualifying Owens Corning roofing system installed by an authorized Preferred or Platinum Preferred Contractor.
Under Owens Corning’s current comparison, it provides a 50-year TRU PROtection period for eligible manufacturing defects and 10 years of workmanship coverage.
Limited lifetime product-defect coverage for qualifying single-family homes, subject to the official warranty definitions and limits.
The first 50 years for qualifying products, including eligible labor, tear-off, and disposal when required for a covered manufacturing defect.
The first 10 years under Owens Corning’s Preferred Protection terms and limitations.
The qualifying roofing system must be installed by an Owens Corning Preferred or Platinum Preferred Contractor.
Owens Corning hip and ridge shingles, underlayment, and two additional qualifying Owens Corning roofing accessories are required.
The roof and extended warranty must meet Owens Corning’s registration requirements. The document in effect when installed controls coverage.
What “limited lifetime” means
For the original owner of a qualifying single-family detached home, Owens Corning generally defines lifetime product-defect coverage as the period in which that owner owns the home. Different terms may apply to other property types or after a transfer.
Product Coverage
Understanding Manufacturer Coverage
A manufacturer warranty focuses on the roofing products. It does not function as storm insurance and does not automatically cover every leak.
Owens Corning determines whether a qualifying product has an eligible manufacturing defect under the warranty that applied when the roof was installed.
| Coverage Detail | Standard Product Warranty | Preferred Protection |
|---|---|---|
| Overall product-defect term | Limited lifetime | Limited lifetime |
| TRU PROtection period | Generally the first 10 years | Generally the first 50 years |
| Tear-off and disposal for a covered defect | Not included during standard TRU PROtection coverage | Included when required under qualifying coverage |
| Manufacturer-backed workmanship coverage | None | First 10 years |
| Authorized contractor required | No, when installation follows applicable requirements | Yes, Preferred or Platinum Preferred |
| Qualifying roof system required | Standard product requirements apply | Four qualifying Owens Corning components required |
This is a simplified overview only. The shingle, roof type, system components, registration, property classification, transfer status, and official warranty document determine the actual coverage.

Zenobi Roofing Coverage
Our Written Workmanship Warranty
Zenobi Roofing’s workmanship warranty is separate from Owens Corning manufacturer coverage and applies to covered installation-related issues on qualifying full roof replacements.
What It Covers
- Covered installation errors on full roof replacements completed by Zenobi Roofing Inc.
- Repair of the affected roof area when a covered workmanship issue causes leakage.
- Interior repairs limited to areas immediately affected by a covered workmanship-related leak.
- Priority scheduling for customers with an active workmanship warranty.
When Coverage Becomes Active
The workmanship warranty becomes valid and enforceable after Zenobi Roofing Inc. receives full payment according to the roof replacement contract.
Report concerns as soon as they are discovered. Early notice allows us to inspect the condition before water or another cause creates additional damage.
What Roof Warranties Generally Do Not Cover
Warranties cover specific responsibilities. They do not make one company responsible for every condition that may affect the roof or home. Open any item below for a plain-English explanation.
Storm and Impact Damage
Hail, falling trees, tornadoes, ice dams, severe weather, debris impact, and wind above the applicable warranty rating generally fall outside standard product and workmanship coverage.
Other Building Components
Gutters, siding, chimneys, skylights, masonry, drainage problems, and components that Zenobi Roofing did not install may cause water entry without indicating a shingle defect or workmanship error.
Later Roof Alterations
Solar panels, satellite dishes, HVAC work, gutter guards, coatings, carpentry, equipment, and work performed by another contractor may affect warranty coverage.
Underlying Conditions
Structural movement, settlement, pre-existing conditions, improper drainage, unvented attic conditions, and problems beneath or outside the installed roofing system may not qualify for coverage.
Non-Owens Corning Products
Owens Corning manufacturer coverage does not generally cover non-Owens Corning products such as wood decking, certain flashings, fasteners, and pipe boots.
Delayed Reporting
Waiting to report a visible concern can allow additional damage to occur. A warranty may limit or exclude damage that reasonable and timely action could have prevented.
Warranty Transferability and Property Monitoring
Transfer rules depend on the warranty. The timing requirements below are important when a home changes ownership.
Owens Corning Transfer
A qualifying warranty may transfer to the second owner when the new owner completes the transfer within 60 days of the real estate transfer and provides the required documentation. A fee may apply.
Zenobi Workmanship Transfer
The workmanship warranty may transfer one time for the remaining coverage period when Zenobi Roofing receives written notice within 30 days of the property transfer.
Owners of rental, seasonal, vacant, or part-time homes should make reasonable arrangements to monitor the property. Delayed discovery and reporting may affect coverage for resulting interior or additional damage.

Common Questions
Roof Warranty Questions
These answers are general explanations. The written contract and official warranty documents control the actual coverage.
What is the difference between a manufacturer warranty and a workmanship warranty?
A manufacturer warranty generally applies to eligible defects in qualifying roofing products. A workmanship warranty applies to covered installation-related issues. Homeowners insurance may address separate causes such as hail, severe wind, or falling trees.
What is the Owens Corning Preferred Protection warranty?
Preferred Protection is an optional extended Owens Corning roofing-system warranty available through authorized Preferred and Platinum Preferred Contractors. Under the current terms, it includes a 50-year TRU PROtection period for qualifying product defects and 10 years of workmanship coverage.
Is Preferred Protection automatically included with every Zenobi roof?
No. Preferred Contractor status allows Zenobi Roofing to offer the warranty, but the homeowner must select the coverage and the roof must meet Owens Corning’s product, component, installation, and registration requirements.
Does the Owens Corning warranty cover storm damage?
Manufacturer warranties generally do not replace homeowners insurance. Hail, falling trees, severe weather, ice dams, and wind above applicable warranty limits do not normally qualify as manufacturing defects.
Does Zenobi Roofing offer a workmanship warranty?
Yes. Zenobi Roofing Inc. provides a 10-year limited workmanship warranty on qualifying full roof replacements. It covers installation-related leakage according to the written warranty terms.
What happens if a covered workmanship issue causes a leak?
Zenobi Roofing will repair the affected roof area when a covered workmanship issue causes leakage. Interior repairs remain limited to areas immediately affected by that covered leak.
Can work by another contractor affect my warranty?
Yes. Solar panels, gutter guards, satellite dishes, HVAC work, carpentry, and other roof alterations may affect coverage. Contact Zenobi Roofing before another company performs work that penetrates or changes the roof.
Can I transfer the roof warranties when I sell my home?
Transfer rules depend on the warranty. Owens Corning currently requires a qualifying transfer to the second owner within 60 days of the real estate transfer. Zenobi Roofing’s workmanship warranty may transfer one time when we receive written notice within 30 days.
When does the Zenobi workmanship warranty begin?
The workmanship warranty becomes valid and enforceable after Zenobi Roofing Inc. receives full payment according to the roof replacement contract.
Who should I contact if I notice a possible warranty issue?
Contact Zenobi Roofing Inc. first. We can review the condition and help determine whether the concern appears related to workmanship, an Owens Corning product, storm damage, insurance, or another part of the home.
Warranty Details and Limitations
This page provides a plain-English overview only. Owens Corning’s official warranty documents control all manufacturer warranty terms, eligibility requirements, exclusions, transfer rules, claim procedures, and coverage decisions.
Zenobi Roofing Inc.’s written workmanship warranty and roof replacement contract control the actual contractor warranty terms. Coverage may depend on the roof, products, project scope, installation date, warranty selected, registration, payment status, and cause of the concern.
Warranty programs can change. Coverage for a completed roof depends on the warranty document in effect when the roofing system was installed and registered.
